2004, 16mm film loop installation
Another cinematic ship-in-a-bottle, this installation metaphorically envisions a life after the Industrial Revolution. The film image projected into the light bulb is that of a luminous moth beating its wings. Playing with the idea of a moth being attracted to a light source, here the moth itself is the light source. On either side are bottles containing small sailboats and in the background is a larger image of passing ferryboats transporting hundreds of cars.
This installation was commissioned by San Francisco's Exploratorium for their program Cutting Edge.
